How did you get into Pilates?
Long story! I was doing a Michael Jackson tribute tour in 2005, and I hurt my knee so bad that it required surgery. A friend recommended Pilates — that after a few months, it helped me so much that I didn’t need surgery. When I was young, I danced 10 hours a day and didn’t care about my body. I started doing Pilates everyday, and then I began working towards my certification.
Why is Pilates your passion?
The pain was so bad, I thought I couldn’t dance anymore. Since Pilates helped relieve my pain so much, I’m passionate about Pilates because it changed my life for the better.
Why did you become an instructor?
I wanted to help all the dancers in my network and beyond to feel better and be free of pain.
What makes your class sweaty?
My class is definitely hard. I’ve taken every class in New York. I’m athletic and a professional dancer. I keep it hard, but I’ve recovered from injury, so you won’t ever hurt yourself. There will always be something fun, creative, and new in my class!
Why do you love teaching at NYP?
Everyone at NYP is challenging themselves. Everyone comes to NYP to work. The positive energy from the students and members is really motivating.
